In this short blog post, Neil gives us his first-impressions feedback on the NEW Mondiale shorts from Castelli Cycling:

These shorts are fantastic. I've been riding in them for a couple of weeks now, and they've quickly become my go-to shorts for all everyday riding. They are shorts designed for comfort, and the execution is sublime.

The fit and cut is supportive, but not restrictive; allowing good compression of the muscles, but superb freedom of movement.

The length, is designed to cup the quads just above the knee; with an effective but not uncomfortable leg gripper.

It is the fabric that is the real highlight though; the unique Cinquanta material, allows an almost seamless construction, which provides a fit and feel unlike any other shorts that I've worn to date.

It's because of this unique fabric that the shorts also have a unique look. Castelli can't print on the Cinquanta fabric (yet), so this short is currently reserved only for those not on a sponsored team! Castelli have opted for a subtle and classic look as a result; these are quietly confident, and the simple black finish will allow riders to marry them with any jersey.

The chamois needs no introduction really, but is the crowing jewel in this great piece of apparel. It is the now tried and trusted Progetto X2 Air pad, which features in all the top performance range from Castelli.

All in all, I couldn't be happier! I have found that these shorts easily warrant their range-topping price tag, and I am looking forward to more long miles!
